I paid a bill using my banks “online bill pay” system. They had to send a paper check instead of electronic funds to this company. The funds are immediately withdrawn from your accounts when you set up the payment. When the company received the check they sent it back and said that they did not accept personal checks. They voided the check and mailed it back to me. They check is clearly not a personal check. It does not have my account number across the bottom. It is signed by a bank representative. It is made out to the company with the account number for the bill. I don’t understand why this check would not be considered certified as you can’t pay a bill online unless the funds are available in your account at the time the bill is paid?
